IT WAS BEGINNING TO SOUND A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

It was just another Friday evening in December – or was it? The interior of St. Pol-de-Leon Church was beautifully lit with long streamers of lights, augmented by lines of candle chandeliers. Multiple tiers of staging, empty for now, faced the body of the church, the members of Mousehole Male Voice Choir were gathering in the hall across the road and members of the audience were taking their seats inside the church with happy expectation writ large on their....... ‘Twas a fine Thursday in September when two coaches made their way from the far west of Cornwall, stopping every so often to pick up choristers and supporters of Mousehole Male Voice Choir until having passed Chiverton and Longrock respectively, we picked up speed to head towards our destination in Bristol, or “the far north” as it is known in Mousehole! Many thanks to the internet for helping out with a definition. Apparently whilst “brace” for twice and “hat-trick” for three times are well known, the use of the word “Haul” for four times is less so but here we are, with our fourth recruit completing his probation period in the last month. Members and supporters of Mousehole Male Voice Choir enjoyed a lovely evening on the quayside at Mousehole harbour last Friday as part of the Sea, Salts and Sail festival. There had been much debate earlier in the day as to whether sou’westers and wellies could be incorporated into our more usual “harbour rig” clothing as the forecast left us wondering whether we were in for a soaking but in the event.....
