Last Sunday, on a beautiful balmy summer’s evening, the choir held the first of their three annual concerts in Paul church. Nearly two hundred people were in the audience, gathered to hear the choir and their special guests Katie Kirk and Rick Williams. The choir were in good voice with nearly seventy choir members in attendance. The choir’s repertoire included the rousing Alan Clark’s arrangement of ‘Anthem’ from the musical ‘ Chess' to the very soft sound of ‘Sing Your Way Home’ where you could hear a pin drop. Accompanying the choir, were folk musicians Katie and Rick. Everyone at the concert would agree that on this evening they heard two of the best folk artists that the county can offer. The audience were treated to songs, written many generations ago, that have a timeless quality and have been re-arranged by this very talented duo, in which they have still managed to capture the old emotions when originally performed. Katie’s voice was powerful and graceful and was interwoven with Rick’s exceptional guitar playing. Rev Andrew Yates gave the blessing after which choir and audience members re-assembled across the road at the King’s arms for refreshment and a further sing.

The choir are next in concert with Sterts Singers on 1st July commencing at the very early time of 5:00pm, following which the choir travel to Penryn to appear in the chapel on Thursday 12th July and then return to Mousehole on the 13th July to participate in the Sea Salts Sail festival.
